Membership
The object of the orchestra is to promote, improve and develop an enjoyment and appreciation of the art and science of music in all its aspects. To enjoy playing together, irrespective of ability, and occasionally, without pressure, to provide public performances to support and encourage the local community.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are in St. Mary's Church, Broughton. It is a large space, with underfloor heating, comfortable chairs, toilets and free car parking. The access the car park from the church, go beyond the graveyard and turn into Bishops Court; the car park is on the left.
.Admission
• Any person is welcome to join (vacancies permitting);
• Any age, (parental consent required 16-18 years, under 16 adult parent/guardian to accompany)
• Any experience.
What membership brings
• The opportunity to play a varied repertoire ranging from light music to classics.
• To develop musical understanding and skills.
• The opportunity to play in 2 concerts a year - usually December and July.
• To be in a friendly, non-judgemental, supportive environment with like-minded people from a variety of backgrounds.
Fees
• One free week trial for prospective new members.
• Subscription at £7 per month, paid by standing order (unless other arrangements are agreed with the treasurer, by exception).
Attendance at rehearsals
• Attend as regularly as possible - we know life and traffic sometimes gets in the way!
• Asked to arrive 15 mins before the rehearsal start time of 7.30pm. This in order to prepare themselves and warm up accordingly.
• Send apologies if unable to attend.
• If arriving late, due to unforeseen circumstances, wait until the orchestra has stopped playing to join orchestra to avoid disruption
• You’re welcome to a social ‘come and chat’ time between 7-7.30pm.
We expect Members to:
• Be polite and respectful to each other at all times
• Refrain from talking or playing musical instruments when the conductor is talking.
